Once an under-the-radar fishing town, Yamba has long been one of Australia’s best-kept coastal secrets, but word is getting out — and for good reason. With its unspoiled beaches, thriving culinary scene and laid-back charm, this Northern NSW gem in the Clarence Valley region is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for those craving a dreamy seaside getaway.
While spending a week (or longer) basking in Yamba’s relaxed rhythm would be the ultimate luxury, sometimes all you have is a quick 24-hour getaway. The good news? You can still soak up the magic of Yamba in just a day — here’s how.
Sunrise swim

Fact: The most idyllic way to start a day in Yamba is with an ocean swim while watching the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean. Head to Yamba’s Main Beach where you can choose to get refreshed in the patrolled surf, or opt to plunge into the iconic ocean pool set at the southern end of the beach. If you’re up for a morning beach hop, Covent Beach and Pippi Beach are also well worth a dip.
Coffee

Post-swim, it’s time for coffee. Gather, nestled atop Yamba Hill in the heart of town, guarantees an exceptional brew (with an equally exceptional sweet treat to match if you fancy), as does local favourite Beachwood Cafe on High Street renowned for its excellent coffee as well as its small, but dynamic menu specialising in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare.
Breakfast

A beachfront favourite, The Kiosk Yamba is your go-to for a simple and seriously tasty seaside breakfast menu. Set right on the shore of Yamba's Main Beach, it’s at The Kiosk where you can enjoy your acai bowl and pressed juice with your toes literally in the sand. Rumour has it, the classic bacon and egg roll is the best in town.
Farmer’s Markets
If you time your visit right, a visit to the Yamba Farmer’s and Produce Market is non-negotiable. Located at Whiting Beach, just a short stroll from town, the market is packed with local produce, fresh flowers, and gourmet goods.
Every Wednesday between 7am and 11am, over 45 stall holders — think regional farmers, makers, bakers, artisans and producers — gather to sell their premium quality local and regional gate to plate produce. BYO the largest market basket you own.

After lunch, take a scenic drive to the charming coastal village of Angourie, just 10 minutes south of Yamba. This peaceful village is home to the famous freshwater green and blue pools — a spectacular natural swimming spot enveloped by lush bushland. Pack a picnic lunch, take a dip and soak in the serenity.

For just over a year now, modern bathhouse Exhale has been the go-to wellness destination for locals and holidaymakers alike to rest, relax, and of course, exhale. No matter your wellness preference, Exhale really does have it all — ice baths, magnesium spas, infrared saunas, massage and beauty treatments. Hot tip, be sure to book in advance to guarantee your visit.

It may sound cliché, but no trip to Yamba is ever complete without a visit to Pacific Hotel. A Yamba institution since opening in 1934, Pacific Hotel is perched perfectly on a hill overlooking Main Beach and is unquestionably the best spot in town to watch the sun dip below the horizon, cold drink in hand.
